It has been an exciting week... I went to Chicago with the high school youth from Restoration on a spring break mission trip to work with Jesus People USA. (check out their website - jpusa.org) I was completely amazed by this group of 450 people who live in community, sharing everything and serving together.

I always enjoy doing these kinds of short term service projects. But could I serve with such enthusiasm for a long period of time? I worked alongside so many people who serve there in mundane jobs day after day... for years and years, in fact, doing things like cleaning bathrooms for senior citizens or scrubbing pots and pans in the shelter... and they do it with joy, because they are full of Jesus. It is a reminder to me that my joy and contentment has nothing at all to do with my career, ministry, possessions, or anything else. Its all about seeking God... and finding Him, even in the daily mundane aspects of our lives. I have so much to learn about being a servant. But I want to learn, and perhaps that is a start.
