Its kind of a gray day here, but I'm pretty happy anyway cause my friend Erin and her roommate just arrived from Chicago to visit for a couple days. And even though it would be really great if I had a job, its kind of nice that I'll be free to spend some time with her.
Here's the job situation: I work for 4 hours on Thursdays and Fridays providing childcare for a family with four kids - a 3 month old, a two year old with Down's Syndrome, a four and a five year old. I thought it would be a little chaotic (and I guess it is, in a way) but the family is great. So far I really like it. Then yesterday I started working for a single woman who adopted a little girl from China. Grace is 19 months old, and it looks like I'll be watching her for about 10 hours per week. The income from these jobs won't cover my expenses... SO, I'm still looking. I sent my resume to a tutoring company that hires certified teachers, and I'm going to follow up on that tomorrow. We'll see what happens. God has totally taken care of me so far, and everybody at the community house has been very helpful and understanding. I'm sure it will come together.
On the property next to the old convent where I live, there is a big 100 year-old church. Since we don't use the space for services, the people here rent out the rooms as studio space to local artists. This weekend I met the guy who has a darkroom there, and he said that I could use it. Could I just pitch in about $5 and provide my own paper? Yes, its very exciting. I almost wet myself from sheer joy.
