It has been another crazy weekend...
On Thursday, Michelle (friend from college/roommate in Texas) stayed overnight. Before she got here, I came down with some sort of crazy sickness that left me feeling pretty miserable. But we still managed to spend some quality time together including a trip to the conservatory and lunch at Panera. (Fortunately, Dave gave me seven kinds vitamins and herbs to take, and after just a day, I felt much better.)
This weekend, our community hosted a conference with Brian McLaren (author of A New Kind of Christian). He came to initiate discussion on community and the life of the body of Christ in a postmodern culture. I guess I hadn't realized that it was going to be such a huge event! I met people from Washington, Florida, New Hampshire, Canada... and many places in between. There must have been about 250 people there.
So the convent was full. In addition to the 12 of us who live here, we had 11 guests stay overnight and many other visitors during the day. I met all sorts of fantastic people including a great community from the Landing Place in Columbus.
As the conference was ending, I met up with several friends from Cedarville at Thai restaurant in Mt. Adams. Then Michelle, Michael, Chris, Cathy, Matt, Katia, and I all piled into a small car to head back to Chris and Cathy's condo. We watched a movie together, and then Michael and I met up with his friends at The Barrel House where listened to Skeleton Crew - a Grateful Dead cover band.
This weekend was all very refreshing (and maybe just a little exhausting - but I'm sure that this was mostly due to a self-induced lack of sleep while barely recovering from being sick.)
