I'm feeling particularly sad and frustrated about my job situation today. And I realized that this manifested itself in several dysfunctional ways:
I almost cried at breakfast.
I ate a bowl of ice cream at 9:30am.
I took a nap before noon.
I avoided writing a paper that needs to be finished. Instead, I bought a new book and took myself out for a cup of coffee.
I am extremely confused about what I should be doing right now. Those of you who have spent any time with me lately are probably really sick of hearing about this. Feel free to stop reading now.
I have all sorts of options... but all of them are part-time, and none of them involve classroom teaching. I have really wanted to get a teaching job, but it continues to seem more and more unlikely. Each week, I call local schools and the Cincinnati Public Schools human resources office... and each week, they tell me that they cannot schedule any interviews, because they're still on a freeze for hiring. Today's front-page headline of the Enquirer caught my eye: "City schools overspent $21.7 million". Hum...
So in the meantime, I'm trying to look at all of my options and figure out which job or combination of jobs makes the most sense. I'm so confused.
