We have had so much snow this winter. It seems like every week since I started this job, school has been canceled or delayed at least once. This week school was cancelled for a storm on Wednesday, and then we had another two storms on Friday and on Saturday. The last day of school was going to be on my birthday (which was already late enough), but our most recent snow cancellation bumped the final school day to the following Monday. JUNE 20!!!!

Yesterday my roommate Cari and I drove down to Boston in the middle of the snowstorm for a painting party that one of her friends was hosting. Of the ten or so people that showed up, only one considered himself "a painter". The rest of us (teachers, biochemists, musicians, a veterinarian, a computer guy, etc.) all showed up to experiment and have fun. We sat around talking, listening to music, and painting. There was no pressure to come up with anything remarkable, but several people did. We had a fabulous time. And then when we finished, we ordered Indian food and watched a movie.
