Today my day started at 4-something AM with a glorious, unplanned paper mill fire drill. Despite my best efforts, I was never able to go back to sleep.
Today was also a field trip day. I took my class to the city landfill to follow-up the unit I taught on caring for the environment. We had a guided tour that was really quite interesting. We rode in the buses past the old landfills which now look like little green mountains, and we saw the massive heap of trash and soil that is the current landfill. We also saw the place where leaves and yard waste are composted, and we saw the piles of scrap metal, bottles, and paper for recycling. The kids seemed pretty happy about it. Trash is very interesting.
